Consume IQ is an enterprise consumption intelligence platform designed to monitor IT infrastructure utilization across ONGC's Data Centre (DC) and Disaster Recovery (DR) environments. The platform collects infrastructure data through APIs, processes device-level consumption using business rules, consolidates consumption data, integrates committed capacity and pricing masters, and generates automated billing summaries and operational analytics.

The Business Problem

Turning fragmented infrastructure data into a reliable business view.

ONGC required a centralized solution to monitor infrastructure consumption across distributed Data Centre and Disaster Recovery environments.

Consumption data originated from multiple infrastructure sources and required validation, device-level processing, capacity reconciliation and pricing integration before it could be used for billing.

The solution also needed controlled synchronization between DC and DR while keeping database communication within the organization's internal infrastructure.

BA Perspective

The most important part of Consume IQ wasn't simply building another monitoring dashboard. The challenge was translating infrastructure metrics into business-ready information.

I worked across the boundary between infrastructure teams, business stakeholders and application teams to understand how raw consumption should be interpreted, validated, consolidated and ultimately converted into billing information.
